Brenda Lenard: Gun-toting Black Tea Party Candidate to Run for Tennessee Senate

Brenda Lenard is an African-American conservative candidate for United States Senate in Tennessee. Known widely for her leadership and accomplishments in the private sector and academia, Lenard offers powerful insight on both the current and future challenges facing our great nation.

 Born in the mid-west, she was raised primarily in Atlanta, Georgia where she attended neighborhood public schools. Lenard endured a difficult childhood, plagued with poverty, living in one of the most notorious housing projects, and briefly in a condemned building with her mom and siblings.

The story does not end there. Through tenacity, persistence, resilience, and courage, she was able to rise above her circumstances. Her career is marked by success and personal tragedies. For over a decade, Lenard enjoyed a successful tenure as Chief Executive Officer of a mid-size construction company.

 She later took a permanent leave of absence after the death of her infant son, Daniel; to found Daniel's Dream for Children Awareness, Inc. A non-profit committed to eradicating Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Brenda Lenard has been deeply involved in community and civic affairs, serving in her church and numerous charities including Daniel's Dream For Children Awareness, Inc, the American SIDS Institute , Girl Scouts of America, the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club to name a few.

She received her B.A., with High Honors, from Beulah Heights University. Shortly thereafter, she was awarded an MPA from Kennesaw State University and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville.
