Newt Gingrich: Bring GOP to black districts

Newt Gingrich said Thursday that he is involved in an effort to bring Republican members of the House to black districts around the country. Gingrich, the former speaker of the House, said he has spoken with Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, and the House Republican Conference about the idea, and the group is “slowly gaining ground.” Univision has offered to host town hall meetings for the GOP district visits, Gingrich said.

“It’s important because when you go out, and you’re standing in a room and you’re looking people in the face you begin to realize the limitations of what you can and can’t say and you begin to realize how they hear it,” Gingrich said at a breakfast sponsored by the National Review in their offices on Capitol Hill.
