Report says lynchings in US South were more common than previously thought

Lynchings of black Americans in the US South were more common than previously thought with nearly 4,000 cases documented by researchers in a new study.

The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) compiled details of "racial terror lynchings" in 160 locations between 1877 and 1950, finding 700 deaths that were not included in prior counts.
